About Kullaya Kay Eve
I’ve travelled every continent in the world, visiting many countries, but have come to particularly love the glorious hills and valleys that make up Mid Wales, UK, a really fine place for walking, cycling and exploring. I saved this grade II listed building, originally built in 1885 as a miniature department store, by renovating and converting it to modern holiday apartments. The build was almost complete when the Covid pandemic hit and the project had to be suspended but now, two and a half year since I started, it’s complete. I designed Knighton Place Serviced Apartments for people who love the countryside and want to enjoy a self-catering stay at the heart of a typical Welsh border village in a comfortable little home away from home. I took an empty and crumbling building at the center of the village and returned it to a state where it can help to bring continued life to the community.
The neighborhood
Kay’s Knighton Place Serviced Apartments are only 2 minutes walk (500 yards) away from the Offas’ Dyke Centre and the Dyke path and close to the intersection of other established walks such as Glndwr’s Way and the Heart of Wales Railway Trail. The apartments also benefit from having local amenities just across the road.
There are excellent eating establishments in the area, from traditional pubs such as The Banc or The Horse and Jockey, to three nice little Cafes all within a minute’s walk. For take-away there’s a chip shop, Chinese and kebab within a 2 minute walk. For self catering, three village centre shops are mere seconds away and a large Co-Op supermarket a five minute walk from the apartment building.
There are romantic castle ruins or country gardens to visit and golfing, horse riding and fishing are amongs many numerous outdoor activities enjoyed in the area. For pure relaxation with a new read there’s the enormous Aardvark Books, Bookbarn 10 minutes drive away.
Getting around
Knighton has a railway station, the line running north to Shrewsbury and south to Swansea. The station is 10 minutes walk from Kay’s Knighton Place Serviced Apartments. There are also bus services to Kington, Ludlow and Newtown and various taxi companies to call out.
